Auditions for Death & The Maiden
THEATREdART is holding auditions for its first show of the season, Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman. This is an intense dramatic piece set in an unnamed South American country, and featuring three characters.
Unlike most TdA auditions, we are asking for prepared monologues for these auditions. PLEASE PREPARE A CONTEMPORARY DRAMATIC MONOLOGUE. We are casting for all three roles:
Paulina Salas (female, 30-45): Paulina is a woman who is struggling to overcome being kidnapped and brutally beaten and raped during her country's violent revolution. She has come a long way towards rebuilding herself, but the terror and mistrust are always looming in the back of her mind.
Gerardo Escobar (male, 30-45): Paulina's husband. Gerardo is a lawyer who is working to heal his country's people from the mass tragedies that occured during the revolution. He is passionate and dedicated towards both his wife and his cause.
Doctor Roberto Miranda (male, 40-65): A kind stranger who gives Gerardo a ride home. He supports Gerardo's work, and is very enthusiastic about his approval. He also may or may not be one of Paulina's torturers.
Auditions will be at the Cottonwood Center for the Arts on February 20th and 21st at 4pm
Callbacks on Tuesday, the 23rd.
Show dates are every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from April 29th to May 15th, at 8:00 every night.
